Excellent but very expensive healthcare. As a European destination, travel insurance requirements depend on your nationality. EU/EEA citizens benefit from the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which covers necessary medical treatment, but EHIC does not cover repatriation, mountain rescue, or trip cancellation. Schengen visa applicants must show insurance with minimum €30,000 medical coverage.

GP visit: NOK 300–500 (€25–45). Emergency room: NOK 500–2,000. Hospital day: NOK 5,000–15,000. Norway is extremely expensive — among the most costly countries in the world for healthcare.

Arctic conditions in northern Norway — extreme cold, polar darkness in winter. Fjord and mountain hiking carries weather and terrain risks. Avalanche risk in winter. Lofoten and Svalbard are extremely remote — evacuation can be complex. Northern Lights tours involve cold exposure.
